  1. Wales are lined and will start planking tomorrow, then bulwarks and then there rest.
  2. When starting the final layer of planking should I start with the bulwark and move down too the keel or start with the top of the hull down to the keel and the finish the bulwark?
  3. The first layer of planking done. A bit of sanding and starting the second layer.
  4. I was thinking some kind of strap and I think you are right. The band is just wide enough. I appreciate you help.

  6. I am working on the Adventure Pirate Ship (1700 Schooner) that came with 8 cannons and racks. In the pack with those was a 5mm wide brass strip. Any ideas as to what the strip is for? I have searched but found nothing.

  8. Im having issues with the lining the hull technique for planking. I understand all of it until it is time to cut the plank. Can this technique be used with planks at 5mm wide? I don't see how the curves can be cut with a narrow plank.

  13. Are nail drivers worth the money? The one I purchased can not drive a nail for nothing. I am using brass nails, how does the nailer hold the nail in a vertical position?
  14. I have finally completed the planking of the deck and I must say that I am proud of the how it has turned out. Sanding will start tomorrow.
  15. The first week coming to a close and I have most of the main deck planked. I was considering using a satin clear on the deck while it is easy to work with. Any suggestions?
  16. Thanks for the heads up ragove. I have a drive for in any day. I used push pins yesterday as was recommended by another member.

  18. False deck on, thanks to tips from members yesterday. As soon as my book "Ship Modeling Simplified" by Frank Martini arrives today I will start the planking.
  19. I did try pinning and my thumbs were not happy with me as it is pretty tough to push those pins in the plywood. I'm still thinking about nails but not sure how hard they would be to pull back out. Using weights might be the only reasonable answer. I really appreciate the ideas!!!!!
  20. Day three of my build. I'm trying to decide how to hold down the false deck while the glue sets. I have nails ordered but no delivery date as of yet. I will appreciate any tips.
  21. What is the best way to hold down the 1st layer of decking. I'm building the Adventure Pirate Ship and it has sheets for the 1 see layer on all three levels. Any ideas?
