  1. Hello! I need some help! I installed cap rails on my kit and i do not like the way it turned out. I used some left over cherry wood deck strips and cemented them in. I want to remove the material and start over. Can someone give me a suggestion how to make cap rails? I am trying to do a professional job on the project. Should I cut the shape out of a larger piece of wood and then shape and sand, or use a jig to wet the wood then mold ? Thanks, Nick

  8. I am in the process of building this model also, thanks for the tip on using shellac. The deck is still in a raw state nothing applied to it yet I find using water wood putty works very well for filling holes and cracks. The stern has been driving me nuts to construct it. An old craftsman told me about that trick. I will send pictures if you like? I am new here, but i have been building wood model ships for over 25 years. I still need to file out the scuppers. Nick
