  1. I'm already starting to think about my next build. I'm only 1/2 way through the planking of my first one, and thoroughly enjoying it, but may wait and see how I fair with rigging before I decide what to go for next
  2. Captjoe, I've just been able to add mine. You have to have made 10 posts before you can add
  3. That is a significant improvement on the bow. If you are painting, you could use a little filler on the bow to fill the small gaps. Painting looks great. I paint as much as possible as I go along because I tend to get it everywhere no matter how careful I'm trying to be
  4. First couple of planks bent and glued into position. Just need to finalise the twist at the stern once the glue on other ribs has cured.
  5. Deck is now fully fitted and glued into position. Fitted with minimal sanding required. First rails fitted. Hadn't lined up starboard rail correctly and it was too high. Luckily spotted it before the glue had cured so managed to fix it without any issues. Getting the rails in was a bit tricky and heard some nasty cracking sounds from one of the cut outs for the ribs. Luckily it's where it is being glued and not noticeable.
  6. gsxdent59 that's looking great. Good to see such progress
  7. Onto fitting the bow and stern filler pieces along with the false deck at either end. Waiting for the glue to cure before proceeding further
  8. First build and log for me, slight delay in getting started when AT sent the full HMS Endeavour instead of the Longboat version, but all sorted quickly by AT and am now building. Managed to get all the ribs dry fitted, quite a bit of play in the parts, but some lego blocks seem to have worked in making sure everything was square. I dry fitted the deck after gluing the ribs to make sure alignment was OK and so far seems OK
  9. Once I gain a few skills I would certainly be interested in modelling a Galway hooker. I see that you've modelled one, any tips on suitable kits for a novice with a little experience (by the time I get through my build) or was yours a scratch build?
  10. Slight delay to building my model. I ordered the HMS Endeavour Longboat and was shipped the HMS Endeavour instead. Have tosend back the one I received and wait for the replacement to come through. No harm though, will give me more time to get tips from other builds.
  11. Should have looked before posting. I've found your build log now and will follow with interest. Thanks
  12. Are you planning on doing a build log of the Saint Milo Helge? Would be interested to see how you get on with it and hopefully I can learn from your build. Many of the build logs on this forum are so good that if I can make mine half as good I'll be very happy indeed.
  13. Hi there, a completly new to wooden model building after a youth spent building plastic models and a 30 year hiatus. Hopefully after reading a good few build logs and taking the tips from those I hope I might make something presentable. I'm starting with an artesania Captain's Longboat HMS Endeavour. It was listed for the beginner so hopefully will suit my lack of skills working with such small wood. Am more too used to bits of 2x4 so should be interesting to see if I can adapt to the smaller scale. Might start a build log in the new year to get advice and support along the way. Thanks
