  1. I am presently building the Cutty sark, Revell 1/96. I.ve got the hull very well along , and am looking ahead to the rigging. I've noticed that the lifts used on the spars are made of cable, and are taut when in port with yardarms lowered, and loose when at sea under sail,( spars in raised position).I have also noticed that there some other means is used to actually raise or lower the yards. Are the halliards used for this? If so, what is the purpose of these lifts? Or why aren't the lifts rigged to accomplish this. Seems kind of redundant to me. But I'm sure some of you guys know why. Please educate me so that I can proceed intelligently. I like to know WHY that line is there. I have been seriously studying the Cutty, build logs. I have seen some truly magnificent work here. Thanks for any help in this.
  2. When I try to post a photo for my profile, im told it is too big ( in computer jargon) Im not much of a computer whiz. Help me? I see profile photos out there bigger than mine
  3. Yes Terry, Glad to be aboard. I sent a reply to your response, but have no idea where it went. Maybe this is the right spot. You must be a squid yourself, knowing the L&C's nickname. Thanks for your service. I hope this post goes where I want
  4. Heres the Connie I finished the year before last.
  5. I'm Kevin and this is my first membership of this kind. Been building model ships off and on all of my life. Really reduces stress, when not creating it. Built the USS Contitution a couple of times, currently building Revell 1/96 Cutty Sark. Stumbled across this MSW by accident and found that there are some REAL modelers here. Some of the work I've seen here is nothing short of MAGNIFICENT. Call myself Lost and Confused, as that was the nickname of my ship, in the USN. Was a SSBN submarine. My first choices were "Bubblehead" and "Boomer but they were already taken. I will be asking questions . Glad to be here
