  1. This is one frame from the POB set and one frame from the POF set of plans after printing
  2. Yes, I did get the POF downloads as well and looking at them after both halves of the double frame are joined together the frame is still 3/8'' thick I'm wondering if I build in 1/4'' and move all the forward bulkheads from the center bulkhead to the forward edge line drown on the plans of the center board and the aft bulkheads to the back edge line drown on the plans would the build come out correct. I like the 1/48 scale and reducing the bulkheads in print would drop the scale down which I would rather not do.
  3. The plans printed in 1/48 scale I was thinking 1/4'' was the more acerate choice but the plans print everything at 3/8'' and everything I have been reading from others builds its looking like 3/8s is correct, but I still feel better about the 1/4'' thickness however I would hate to start get everything built up at 1/4'' and then find the flaw and be forced to half to start over. to do everything in 1/4 I would half to adjust all the plans and I'm thinking they have spent allot of time getting everything just the way it should and looking it all over they have done a great job putting these plans together. Still, I'm torn.
  4. Origenaley, I started wanting to build a monster 1st rate ship of the line the 1812 Montebello. However, after much research and advice from others on this forum learned it was a wiser decision to change my plans and that building a 1st rate would be too much to try and tackle for my skill level. Others directed me to this H.M.S Triton and though I really wanted to build a multi gun deck ship like a 3rd rate I decided to take you all's advice and start small and learn what I could. After making that decision I was set on building a POF so I could learn as much as posable but have reconsidered that as well. so, know I am starting an HMS Triton POB build. Thought this way I can learn the basic's and when I'm ready to tackle the 3rd rate then I will build that ship in POF. So that's enough on that. let's get things started. First, I finally got everything I need to start printed but I'm looking at the center bord or keel peace and it looks like the bulkhead slots are 3/8's in. thick is that correct? Just seems a little thick in my thinking. Also, should the center board or keel also be 3/8's in. thick as well? Also, Luan is 1/4'' thick I'm thinking on gluing two pieces together and then sanding or planning it down to get that 3/8's thickness and just thought I would see what you all thought about that decision?
  5. Quick question, I have been browsing through all you guy's builds. How do you all get the small Figurehead you're putting on your ships? are you all rely so good you can carve them? Who can carve me one? lol
  6. Ya That looks awesome, and I wish I could but out of my price range, But I thank you for your post
  7. Thanks for your post I recently purchased the plans for the HMS Tyton found in the group build section and I'm planning on either starting with this or the HMS Winchelsea haven't quite decided just yet gathering mats and supplies for both
  8. I thank you for your understanding exactly how I feel about this project and of cores I plan of posting as I go step by step as soon as I have everything I need to get started. Thank you
  9. Thanks everyone for all your advice and help I will post again when I'm ready to start my build. Need to save up for the enlargement proses lots of plans going to run a bit of a bill to get it done
  10. I think I have downloaded everything correctly, But I have a couple questions are the Assembly Drawings the actual size of the finished build and if so, it looks like it's just over 2 1/2 feet long I would like it to be almost double that. Am I able to enlarge it and again if so which pages would I enlarge for a full body POF build? Would I half to enlarge all the drawing pages in the Full-Build section or could I get away with having to enlarge just a few?
  11. dose the HMS Triton plans have the mast's and rigging in the plans?

  14. I Truley enjoyed viewing this wish you had finished. Still very inspiring thank you for sharing
  15. I went ahead and bought the triton plans you say it can be built in POF POB and in cross section do these plans give me the entire ship or is it just cross section Looking in the group build all of them are cross section builds also how to I get the plans I was expecting a download but I didn't get one is it mailed to me?
  16. I took a look at the Winchelsea and the triton both in the group builds and I found the NRG plans and they look great but just to small truthfully, I want to build something a little bigger I can see stepping down from the 1st rate but I don't think I would want to go les then a 3rd rate and after looking over everything I truly want to build a POF I can spend a few dollars on a good set of plans just need to keep things reasonable
  17. I built this a few years back the chains have broken from moving and the sails and rigging I have in storage until I can finish the wall, I plan to place it on
  18. I have a large well kitted workshop I have table saws band saws scroll saws grinders, sanders, dreamless. I'm verry prepared to go to work on a challenging build but you all are correct about my ambition being beyond my skill level I have been building scratch built speed boats and large sail boats for about 10 years all of which I made remote control and took to the water and raced within a boat club I use to member with that has cense closed down. working with wood is and has been a passion all my life I have spent years on a single project so many times I can't count I usually have 3 or 4 going at a time. I am disabled so I have a lot of time on my hands to spend on my projects. I do spend a lot of time in my Bible but when I'm not in study I'm crafting something.
  19. Ok I think I'm understanding what you all are warning me of I agree it is a big project and yes, I would be interested in starting with a simpler ship I just want it to be a big ship in size like 4 or 5 feet long maybe I can back off the triple decker, but I want a challenge something I can spend time building and something with detail I have no problem having to build hundreds of something infect that kind of what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for something I can just slap together in a month or two I want a scratch build I can be proud of
  20. Would you have a good recommendation of a good English or French ship
  21. Would you by chance have the Uss Pennsylvania build plans ?
