    I was a little surprised at your criticism of the the Bon Retour ship model......that is until I started to build it. It is my first 'wooden model' ship and it is very frustrating.....I will purse it but very slowly! Building this model is a matter of interpretation! The instructions , as you indicated are terrible! They refer to a number of pieces from #39 on but the last sheet of materials stops at 38. Then it jumps to 45, 46, 50, 51then it jumps to 74, and 75. All the nmbers in between do not exist either on drawings or as pieces in the Kit's inventory??????. After much consideration and thought the reality is that so many of these part have to be made by the model builder. Yes, I think I can do it. I enjoy a challenge but I am not yet sure that I would buy another model from Artisana Latina.....can you recommend another wood model builder? Bruce Smith Burlington, On. The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
