  1. As mentioned above, I started this kit 35 years ago and decided to pick it again in March this year. I had contemplated purchasing the kit again but decided to continue with the original and see how it went. If nothing else, it was going to be good practice for any future builds. I continued with the planking, despite my original effort having gaps (darker planks). From memory, I soaked the planks, bent them into shape and attached them immediately using glue and pins. As the timber dries out, it shrunk and left gaps. Lesson learnt.
  2. Here we go, first model of this type and first build log. Initially, I wasn’t going to do one because the standard of other members was a little daunting but if others can learn from my pitfalls, I guess we all win. I did start this kit some 35 years ago and only got to the bulkheads, decks and partial planking. At that time, it was beyond my ability and patience, and I was “one of those who bit off more than he could chew”. But as the years have passed, hopefully I have improved on both. The internet has been a great help and access to sites like Model Ship World and build logs is invaluable.
  3. I hope so and will give it my best shot
  4. Thanks for your replies. I will create a build log over the weekend. Have already started the build so need to backtrack a bit
  5. Greetings all, Have just recently joined and have been watching posts on the building of the Norske Love with interest. I was given this kit 35 years ago and like so many, only got to the decks. Now with a little more time and more patience, I started building it again. Like many things I do, I have gone in at the deep end having never done a kit like this before. I read an article on the forum re the amount of un-finished builds and although I agree to a point, these are the type of ships I love. I hopefully, have a touch of ability, but only time will tell. I am going to use the original kit to practice on and purchased a new kit, laser cut and with all fixtures and fittings this time, and plan to mirror the build of the old and new to hopefully learn from my errors. May start a build log shortly, but with 3 builds already well underway from other members, do we need another?

Hi Nelsons Dockyard, welcome to MSW. This sounds like an interesting project. You will get a lot better response if you you go to the New Members forum and start a new Topic there introducing yourself. Good Luck!
