  1. Rob, stunning build as ever, the decals look amazing against the gloss black.
  2. Thanks Andrew, there is so much to read here not sure if I'm going to get any modelling done. The Sherbourne is due to be delivered on Thursday....... Phil.
  3. Mike, thank you so much for your exhaustive reply. MDF is my biggest concern, over the years I’ve always sanded resin using water etc but ship building is another genre. The major sanding I’ll do in the garage where all my large wood and metal working machines are. Thanks for the advise it’s food for thought Phil.
  4. Thanks, much appreciated. Phil.
  5. I also model indoors in a converted double bedroom. How did you find the extract and MDF dust collection on this? I like the aspect of it being portable. Thanks in advance. Phil.
  6. Thanks Chris, awaiting delivery of the Sherbourne. Phil.
  7. Thanks John, I worked in the design industry all my life and that meant daily project deadlines that had to be met. Retirement has cleared my brain of all deadline anxiety, so life is a more relaxed affair. I will definitely do a build log. Phil.
  8. Thanks Jim, I won't mention the cricket. Phil.
  9. Thanks Patrick, looking forward to the adventure.
  10. Thanks, much appreciated, having an engineering background I must tend to not except “that will do”.
  11. Thanks Keith, hoping to learn lots. Phil.
  12. Thanks Bob, I’m guilty as most in looking at the next and next project but not until the Sherbourne slips it’s berth. Phil.
  13. Thanks Geordie, I’d heard that Vanguard had a good reputation and also their grading of skill levels made sense. Phil.
  14. A little background. Been modelling for along time mostly scale plastic modelling in 1/32, 1/35 and 1.48, primarily aircraft and AFV's. Have been actively modelling since 2016 after the customary return to the hobby stage.Have only ever built one marine based model and that was the Italeri Elco PT 596 which I attempted to detail but not to the level of you guys. Since retiring last year I feel I needed a new genre to tackle and hence my first venture into wooden ship modelling. I am going to attempt to build Chris Watton's, HMS Sherborne cutter. It is advertised as novice and I can say that's exactly where I place myself. Looking forward to learning.
