There was a book mentioned in one of the threads (I know, I forgot to get the title) that I think was written by an 18th century seaman - kind of like a seaman's guide or something to that effect. I recall the thread said it is an excellent guide for rigging, etc. I apologize for not giving very much information but I have faith in the great people here! Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Eric

There are a couple that come to mind -

Lever, Darcy The young Sea Officer's Sheet Anchor 1819 - available from Dover books

Falconer An Universal Dictionary of the Marine 1784 - available on-line for download.

You might also find it in the list here (which is slightly out of date now - will update by this fall).

Good Luck!

Don -

I have not had the opportunity to get the archives for the Ships in Scale magazine, but have heard some good things about it.  You can purchase the entire collection for $39.95 plus $7 shipping at http://www.seaways.com/OSISCD.html
