Hi I am currently building Heller 1/100 Victory. I have a question about the parrals. I went to the local hobby store to boy some sea beeds don't know what size to get. Some recomendations were 10/0 and 11/0 beads but they seem a little to small. If anyone has any info on this please help.

The 10/0 beads should be good to use. I used them for my main and fore yards,  They may even be a bit too large.  I think they may end up being too large for the upper yards.  I will be looking for some 13/0 or so for those later.

I would not use anything larger than 10/0.

Anyway you need different sizes for the different yards 🙂

I took 1.8 mm diameter for the top yards and 1.4 mm for the topgallant, a good balance in between appearence and handling. Do not forget the ribs in between 🙂

For the gaff and boom I use 1,5 diameter with the same length but no rips.

And here some parrels in their natural habitat on the topgalland yard of Hendrika Barthelds.

Much smaller as the sail is smaller too, no ribs and one can see, some loosness and space on the rope, as some of the balls have exploded in a recend storm. The able seaman (not me landlubber) was replacing them shortely after this picture was taken 🙂
