I’ve been away from ship modeling for quite some time but have been getting back into with my youngest son. I’ve got both the Jim Byrnes table saw and his thickness sander, both of which have remained idle for far too long. We started milling some lumber on my bandsaw - pieces of an old apple tree and pear tree, and when I fired up the thickness sander for the first time, the drum barely rotated. I hadn’t used it a great deal before, so before I start taking it apart is there recommended maintenance I need to be doing to keep it in top form other than normal cleaning? It’s been years, so I don’t recall, are the lubrication points for bearings, etc?

Hi - This is a very simple machine with sealed bearings.  The drum is driven by a belt straight off of the electric motor so I would start with that.  Remove the belt guard and just make sure that everything spins freely.  If either the drum or the motor doesn't that will be your problem.
