First few steps complete! Cut the hull out of a solid block of wood. I cut the shape of the ship out using a handsaw and smoothed it down and into the right shape with a file. The planking (coffee sticks! :) ) will go over any imperfections or mistakes. It does look rough right now, though.

More progress… 

I really don’t know what I should do: add sails from paper or just leave masts free so that the rigging can be more visible. I know it’s nowhere close right now 😂 , but just wondering. What do you guys think?

Totally up to you. Opinions on sails vs. no sails are usually evenly split.
