Hello All,

I am building OCCRE Santísima Trinidad kit, done with Hull planking which is Sapele wood, the only Wood putty Occre sells is White, not sure if I use White wood putty to cover cracks, how I can match the Sapele color, Other option is to use Mahogany wood putty which is Red Mahogany and not a complete match for Sapele, anybody had experience matching Sapele wood color with what is available in USA?

I personally wouldn't use wood filler on the second layer planking.  I would fill any gaps by using scrap sapele strips and cutting small slivers to fit in place.  Cut them just slightly over sized and sand/trim to shape for a snug fit.

You can tint the white putty to any color  you like. Light oak,  drak wood,  mahogany color, cedar,  just use what ever color  you want mix up  a little ball of it . Putty the holes or cracks then wipe off and refinish.

That is what I would do.

I used white Model Lite filler on my Occre ship model. To get the color depth I added Occre's Sepeli dye. (I'm sure there a colors in the local hardware store that will match.  but i recommend water based.0 I wanted to get it dark but too much liquid weakens the filler.  So I would add a very little at a time and let some of the liquid dry out before adding more.  It took a number of tries, and some time,  but I did get a pretty good match for small spaces.
