Aberdeen City Council, Archive of ships built in Aberdeen.

Hi,

I came across the following link to Aberdeen City Council archive providing information on circa 3000 ships recorded as being built in Aberdeen and the 4 shipyards that built them. It contains technical information, historical facts, taken from press archives, particularly relevant to the many Clippers built here in the city such as Thermopylae.

From here you can browse each of the shipyards or search for a particular ship. Once you find a ship of interest, there is an "About Me" that opens known details and historical facts. In some cases there are images.

In my interest - the Thermopylae - there is a nice image of a model showing a model in the "White Star Green" finish, with white masts and copper plate.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure how to post functional link, so the above can be entered into a search engine that will take you you the sites.

I find the site fascinating and like browsing through the histories of the Clippers which were built in Aberdeen and I hope its equally of interest to others.
