USS Constitution by Eli B - Scientific Models

Hello! This is my first ever build log, so apologies if I do anything wrong. On that note, I recently purchased a Scientific USS Constitution via eBay, and I have decided to make a build log while I do it. After looking at the instructions and reading them through, I decided I wanted to start by planking the hull. It comes with a completed hull, but that just feels like cheating to me, so I'm adding a second layer of planks. Also, this kit is so old that the pieces aren't cut out with a laser cutter! I've never seen this before, and I spent a good 15 minutes cutting out the top deck. In order, here are pictures of the hull, the cut-out deck, and the first plank to go on the side. Wish me luck!
