alde Posted January 11, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2014 What a pain. I am carving away the solid bulwarks to the planking on my Kate Cory. I have been using a gouge, chisel and #11 blades and it is slowly coming along. I'm not sure if I will take it all the way to the planks or leave a thin bit of wood to add support. I am thinking of using one of those Dremel sanding wheels with the flappers on it. Any suggestions? Al Quote The heart is happiest when the head and the hands work together. russ Posted January 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 11, 2014 It seems to be coming aong very nicely. Good work. Once you have the wood down to about 1/16" or 1/32" you should be good. Whatever thickness you choose, just make sure it is fairly uniform along the length of the bulwarks. alde Posted January 11, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted January 11, 2014 Russ, It's just about 1/16" at the top and gets a bit thicker as it gets closer to the deck. I don't think it will show once all the internal detail is added. At this point I think it should be ok to even it up and smooth it out.
