I know it's not modeling related but I was pretty excited to get a copy of this pretty scarce book.

That's some fine looking brass work Mick. I would love to clone your shop too.

Glad to have you here. Don't forget to start a build log when your ready.

I have a Veritas mini block plane but I'll keep an eye for one of those luthier plans. It looks like it would be easy to handle for a small tool. Thanks again.

Glad to see some progress Mick. Nice work as usual. Oh, can you tell us about that little brass plane? It looks like the perfect tool for model work.

They look great Chuck. I would bet that carronades for Syren would be a good seller with the kit guns being so poor. They degrade an otherwise great kit. Brass replacement's cost a small fortune.

Looks great from here Mark. I know what you mean about having to set the fun stuff aside now and then. It's not always a smooth road.

Wow, you made quite a haul. I was thinking of keeping my eyes open for a tube amp but it might be wasted on me. I'm still learning to play and only play for myself.

I made a Pawn Shop rescue a couple of days ago. It was a impulse purchase based on the one I had when I was 14 (it was a late 1960's US Stratocaster that my brother gave me). I picked up a 2014 Fender Deluxe Player Stratocaster in candy apple red and a 20 watt amp. I was telling my guitar teacher about the one I had when I was a kid. On my way home from my lesson I stopped at the pawn shop and there it was. I can resist anything but temptation. I wish I still had the old one. I understand it's worth some big bucks. Here's the new one.

I think they look great Chuck. I would buy them, especially the ones with monogram.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
