I did a lot of video of the process and working on editing to eventually posting it.

For the screw, I bought a 6-32 brass screw, welded the base and blackened it. I predrilled the carronade flat part and screwed in the screw (sorry sounds odd). :)

Nice model.  I have a couple of naval artillery models in my stash. Hope I can make then look as good as this one.
