Alma, San Francisco Bay scow schooner

There used to be hundreds of scow schooners on the bay. The delivery Trucks of their day. The Alma was rebuilt and is at the maritime museum in San Francisco. Plans are available plus you can go on board the actual boat. Makes it pretty easy for scratch building.

Very nicely done. I believe there is an Historic American Engineering Record plans set for Alma. Did you use those for your plans?

What a strange looking vessel. I'm reminded of Bo Diddley's guitar.😃

Gorgeous model though. I'm especially impressed by the sails.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
