Sea Installer - 1/2000 - Bottle

This is my first ship-in-bottle project. Decided to go for something different since I'm more familiar with styrene than with wood.

The vessel is the Sea Installer from the DEME-company. A traditional dredging company, it has turned its attention to the installation of offshore wind farms. They bought the Sea Challenger and Sea Installer vessels from a Danish company a couple of years ago. The model shows the original Sea Installer configuration, installing a Transition Piece (TP) on a monopile foundation.

In the meanwhile the actual Sea Installer was upgraded, the hull widened, the crane lengthened and strengthened in order to handle the recent larger wind turbines.

I also etched the DEME logo in the bottle, since I was researching and prototyping after all.

Although I had some larger plans with the base and lay-out, I eventually decided to go for a scaled down and simpler base. The letters and logo on the base were cut out of Vinyl with a stencil cutter.

Some bubbles in the epoxy, but in the end I'm quite happy with how this turned out.

Really fabulous. Well done. I live by the sea and often see ships with large turbine parts go by.
