  2. Hi Yon i forgot all about that gun port up front now you gone and reminded me,actually i have a few unfinished jobs to do still buckets etc,you done a nice job on those bows i am going to leave a lot of that  for later on have allready  caught the cats heads and pulled them,we all got our ways of doing things and you seem to have escaped unscathed so far,me i am going to do all the lids then bung the other cannon barrels in (bung em in not very nautical is it )then do unfinished  bits on deck and anywhere else. Then its hello masts .Your deck varnish looks smart or is that a light shining on it,seems to have a nice sheen to it,did you not use a matt varnish ?       DEREK :pirate41:

  3. Dan absolutely amazing build, even now i look at scratch builds yours in particular and think how can he  do something so neat and perfect,i love  building my kits i am not particularly  good at that,i often wonder how some people like yourself have the gift of those skills, your talking to someone here who hammers a screw in and screws a nail in.Scratch is some thing i will never ever be able to do,i really am envious of people like your good self.Once again fantastic build pleasure to look at    DEREK

  4. Hi Kevin yep the manual is cack  when you get that part i agree, have completed my  channels and dead eyes now,not the best chains i have come across poor quality,i found also when you put the strop in the channel i t was a struggle with the smaller dead eyes to get enough strop below the channel,to hook the chain, got ther in the end after a few choice words.I spoke to Gill over this part of the build and he just plain forgot to put anything about it  on his log thast is why its not mentioned .DEREK

  5. Hi Kevin nice to see your build up and running once more, how you get on with those strops and dead eyes? just finished my channels and fittings pleased to say, nearly filled my swear box up doing those lol.Brass strips me personally i have not followed the plans 100% with them to be honest ditto with the diff patterns on them, once they are painted they all look the same anyway they really do.Ok keep up the good work.   DEREK     :pirate41:

  6. Hi Derek. Repaying your visit with one of my own. That is one big and beautiful ship model you have there. One of these days I'll have to step up to the plate and have a go at this classic. Outstanding work so far!

Thanks for looking in Patrick as some one once said to me there is no reason why you cant do a big build it is no different from a small build just more of it DEREK

  7. Yon i have recently ordered  some bits of off CMB and not had a prob yes they sent the wrong stuff once  but was soon rectified, emails no they not so good at answering those i dont bother with them usually i phone them with my order just have the  item numbers to hand.Only other places i use sometimes are Hobbies in norfolk ot westbourne  models in bournemouth but neither hold as much stock as CMB  DEREK

  8. Hello Mobbsie just took a look at this build and its looking A ok mate,am envious of one thing i see you  had some square timber supplied   to cut for the gun ports wish i had that in my Victory  had to cut 4 seperate pieces yours is going to look a lot neater, not sure who your build is from if it is jotika am amazed they do not supply that square timber a bit more.Anyway nice job so far DEREK    PS a bit of CA on the wood stops it splitting while you cut it

  9. Hello David fiddly job i know main thing it is done and looks good,i also had a love hate relation ship with those strops,Gill said he trimmed the top prong back Dave drilled a hole and put the prongs in there,i ended up combining both ideas trimmed top prong back a touch and inserted bottom one into a hole worked out ok,amazed nothing in the manual regarding this fit.   DEREK :pirate41:
