So, I haven't posted in a while due to having to do some stuff and moving to a new home but i now finished doing the planking of one side of the ship, and in the process of the other. i also put a second hand of filler on the bottom (might not look best, but its pretty smooth now) to make sure its shaped well and smooth for the next stages. Also thanks for the tips and kind comments. I will try to post more often as the ship progresses. -

Sadly due to a poor quality station for the ship, and me using too much strength i broke the side and tried fixing it. if there are any tips on masking the damage, I would welcome help -

Well, I have been gone for a while and didn't have time to really work on the model, but last 2 weeks were open so here is a small update, I put satin varnish on the decks, and completed the deck on one side, the other will wait to next update, I have put wood filler and sanded it (yes this is after sanding and it is smoother than it looks), other than that this build has double planking so the second one is the smooth one, this is fine imo -

Update #1 started doing the sides, boy this part was stuff especially the curving part of the sticks (if that is what it is called) hopefully the filing of the bow and stern to round them, was pretty tough to determine how much to file and not to file too much -
Hello, This is my first wooden ship model kit, I have built other models of wood, and ships and tanks from plastic. This is the San felipe by Occre, I got this kit in july and started in early august and hope this will turn out good. Hope anyone that watches this build log progress will enjoy, thanks.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
