  1. I am still thinking about how to finish the wood. My first idea is to paint the wood partly in dark red like the 1:10 model in the Museum

all decorations are already partly painted with matt paint (Humbroll)

the old look you are refering to is done by using only wallnut wood. I replaced all other wood, specially the plywood parts

at this time I did not use any paint or varnish to the wood

the canons are directly out of the box as delivered by Corel, so no modifications or paint is done, I expect these deck items to be completed once the autumn has started.

the galleries are a free impression based on your start. :)

  2. I have started to redo the bow section as there were some failures

first the problem was that the planking in the bow section was not correct and second the doors were not correct

after thinking this issue during my holiday in the sun with over 30 degrees I decided to remove the wrong parts and start again

as the weather forecast for tomorrow is extreme high temperature (35 degrees) I might continue with an extra fan in my workshop.

  3. Hi Andre,

This point reminds me an hint I received from another Wasa builder to setup each item without glueing and check for further stages.

I made this mistake and cannot correct all items anymore.

But before fixing the outer parts I used the brass figures for the correct location, I will verify these again.

another problem is that I made some modifications without checking the consequences to later stages, like the canon openings.

  4. Hi Michael

please check the pictures on this website

    http://www.modelships.de/Museums_and_replicas/Vasa-Museet-Stockholm/Photos-Vasa-ship.htm

here you can see the locations of the extra openings, assuming these are the watering openings you are looking for.

(I have these pictures all printed and use these in my workshop, maybe in the future an old computer is easier)
