    This is such a nice little project and I don't mean that to imply that it is simple. This is one of the first boats I built many years ago from a Blue Jacket kit, (I think) because it was a solid hull. Very detailed and a learning experience, not only in model ship building but in whaling and the type of conditions these men must have worked under.

    Do you think that the polished copper look is ever scale looking in appearance in the original construction? While verdigris green may not be called for, but maybe a dulling of the plates may look more realistic.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
