I am back!!! Was out of town for awhile but I have returned with a vengeance!!!! New life solo

Thanks for the positive comments makes me feel really good when I look at all the work you all have done. I'm trying to be careful about weathering because of its short life on the seas so some will be touched up

I couldn't believe the difference between natural light. This is by far the biggest undertaking of my humble model building. I tried to read all the other build logs of this beast and the other ships as well. The pure artistry that is displayed on a lot of the builds just floors me. I try not to overwork or paint to much trying for perfection because I usually mess it up Lol. Thank you all for the kind words and more pics coming shortly.

Have no fail I will be back shortly with updated construction pictures, been fighting a severe sinus infection but almost over it. WEATHer here has been 70° but on Sunday temps will drop to mid 20s and we are getting sleet and ice.

It wasn't to bad just made sure I wiped down the decks with alcohol wipes and washed my hands lol

I wish the deck would have been smaller pieces because there were a couple of those moments I hoped it would lift up and thankfully it did. My first time doing it and I think Idid a decent job, ddefinitely worth the cost though.

Here is also a very good lil helper. These little micro brushes are great to have. Use glue, paint what ever your need.

I just make sure the temperature outside is warmish and humidity is low. I build in my house but do all spraying in garage of course. I keep all of my spray paints in my house so they are at a good temperature and it seems to work pretty good. If I need touchups on the photo etch instead of spraying everything again I spray the paint into a small plastic epoxy cup and use a very small brush. Thank you all so much doe the positive comments and trust me I am open to any and all suggestions.

On the wooden decks I used the same wash, almost a dry brush technique, and then used my finger to take away anything that looked to dark

I am actually using Wal-Mart brand primer gray. I just shake the can for about 3-4 minutes and do several very light coats. Takes a lol longer but it's worth it. I'll usually put 4 coats of paint, and I always make sure the paint is completely dry. I have been using flory models was after that. I have always built scale radio control aircraft and I used a trick from putting panel lines on the aircraft. I take a dark gray colored pencil and sharpen to as small a tip as I can get and trace back over the very small details and giving them shadows.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
