The Bluenose was my first ship model.  It has been on the shelf a couple years but never had a proper stand.  While shopping for some blanks for turning pens on the lathe I found some cuttings from the Bluenose II restoration.  These are the scraps cut off the new beams used in the Bluenose II.  They weren't part of the ship but are from the same beams that are now in her.

I took three of the blanks 3/4" x 3/4" x 5" and made this stand.  I turned round sections on one of the blanks, then cut it in half to make the two posts.  I then rounded some corners and glued the three blanks together selecting the one with the most laminated layers for the front.

I also inserted an older (silver) Canadian dime, with an image of the Bluenose, in the stand.

I know I'm mixing the Bluenose and the Bluenose II in this but thought the story behind the wood in the stand made an interesting and fitting display stand for the model.
