I am thinking of trying getting Vanguard Gun Brig Adder model - what would be the ship's boat type and size that will go with this ship? (launch, yawl, 14 ft/24ft... etc.)  Hope anyone knows/ran into the same question...  I looked everywhere but for the life of me cannot find this information on what would be historically appropriate.

I have a copy of May's "The Boats of Men of War", he talks about the boats carried by various ship types. I will take a look and see what he says for brigs of the period when I get home.

Edit: Steel lists ropes for a launch and one of a pinnace/yawl/cutter though that doesn't tell you the sizes.

When researching for Adder, I too wanted to know what type of boat they would have had, as I intended to include one. To my surprise, I read that this particular class were not issued with a boat, I assume because they operated near the shore.

Now that is really interesting. I would have thought they still would have one (even just for transporting water or supplies back and forth). Out of curiosity, where did you find that detail?

I cannot recall right now, but I definitely read it in one of my books when looking for as much detail as I could when researching.
