Hi.  Currently working on a 1/4"  = 1 foot scale scratch build of a Cruizer Class brig Pandora of 1806.  I've been using Petreyus' book on building the Irene (ex Grasshopper).

Does anyone know if the royals were used on this class of vessel between 1806 and 1811?  I've seen conflicting info.  Petreyus' book does show royals in one illustration (dotted) and not in another.

Were royals possibly used only in good weather conditions?  Also, were flying jibs and it's boom also used during this period?

Thanks for any info provided.

I would imagine yes, royals were used on such vessels at that period. They usually aren't shown because they were classed as 'Flying', meaning no lifts, just hoisted up when needed. (as far as I know, at least)

Also, yes to flying jibbs/jibbooms, which were introduced in the late 1790's - so between 1806 and 1811, they would very likely have been used.
