As suggested elsewhere in the forum , i will be posting progress reports and pics of my scratch-built Lobster schooner model restoration from 25 years ago here from time to time. Thought it might be of interest to other builders or simply as reference notes and photos.

To rehash what was already posted in the forum introduction section ,  i am currently in the closing stages of refurbishing a model of a two masted schooner similar to the Emma C. Berry and ships of that type in that era. Note: although quite similar, this is not a model of the Emma C. there is an extensive wealth of information on that model elsewhere in the forums.

I built this model about 25 years ago , it sat in my late mother's house for several years and collected many layers of lint ( as it was not in a display case) , when she passed away the model was completely dismantled right down to just a empty hull and stored away in a basement.

I retired a coupla years ago and since i have a lot more free time now i decided to dig it out of storage and try my hand at a restoring/refurbishing it to at least its former glory . Although my eyes are not what they use to be, my model building is somewhat still intact.

I have just one surviving photo of the model from about 1999-2000. Riggings were never completely finished so that will be on my to-do list during this restore. I've since cleaned the hull and repainted the inside and deck with gloss white acrylic paint and already it's looking better ( see attached pics).

Hi Lawrence, welcome to MSW. I am glad that you were able to take care of this beautiful model until you were ready to give it a new lease on life. Good luck with your restoration!
