1:50 model of a Byzantine dromon of the reign of Emperor Alexios I Komnenos, based on the superbly researched book Age of the Dromon by Prof. John Pryor, archaeological discoveries of Byzantine galleys in the silted up Harbour of Theodosius at Yenikapi, Istanbul, and my own research of contemporary pictorial representations. Built with frames and planking to the same dimensions (to scale) as the Yenikapi galleys. Build log at https://modelshipworld.com/topic/10344-10th-11th-century-byzantine-dromon-by-louie-da-fly-150/

Looks GREAT! Even better than my 1st; the "Marie Jeanne" by Billing Boats. Both boats are pretty similar.

Hi Ron, thanks for the comments. Actually the base was a very quick cut up made from foamcore and modpodge. I painted the surface with some dark blue / green acrylic paint. Then stippled on several layers of Gloss ModPodge. Added a bit of white and stippled in the foam. Just wante a base for doing some quick photos. IT will get a more permanent home with a dock etc. eventually.
