HM Cutter Sherbourne - Caldercraft

Built out of the box, several years ago and cased during 2020.

This kit was a joy to build.  Solid instructions.  Nice wood.

Hull airbrushed.  All remaining wood stained, with Natural color stain.

I built the case: Tiger Maple moulding and frame, with 3/32” SSB glass.

Thanks, this is one of my first projects, built several years ago.  Now see some things that could have been done differently; for example the deadeye lanyards could have been black thread.

Finally cased her during 2020, along with the others.  Case design and fabrication was the last major step to understand in my shipbuilding process.

My approach to shipbuilding is that it’s more important to get through the project, to understand the steps, rather than agonize over perfection.  Perfection comes through building ships.  During early projects, much time was spent figuring out how to do each step.  Now less time is spent figuring it out, more time to drill into the details.  At least that’s idea. :)

I think you did just fine. Most people class lanyards as running rigging and leave them light coloured, as you did (and the people who maintain historic ships such as HMS Victory).
