It is a 16mm diameter rod and I simply cut pieces to size and then cut a slot for the keel of each boat and slightly shaped the profile of the hull in with a small chisel. You can get all different diameter sizes to suit your preference Thukydides 1

Many thanks. Yes the 18ft cutter is tiny. I have stood it in the corner of the case with my Alert and it is smaller than the name plaque I had made up for the display!
