In 1717, Blackbeard captured the French ship La Concorde. After converting La Concorde into a frigate with a heavy arsenal, the pirate renamed it Queen Anne’s Revenge and it became his flagship. Blackbeard and the Queen Anne’s Revenge play a prominent role in the 4th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise - On Stranger Tides. At one point during the movie, Blackbeard is captaining the Revenge over dark seas on a quest to find the Fountain of Youth. A mutiny breaks out among the crew. Blackbeard appears on his balcony overlooking the deck and proclaims, “And what fate befalls mutineers? They HANG!”
He raises his sword, bringing the rigging to life which begins roping and hanging crew members from the yards. However, Blackbeard’s daughter intervenes and implores Blackbeard to spare the crew. Blackbeard acquiesces, but chooses to make an example out of the ship’s cook. He sets the cook adrift on a long boat, points the Revenge at it, then unleashes a ball of Greek Fire from the bow which engulfs the long boat in flames.
The scene inside my bottle shows illuminated Greek Fire erupting from the Revenge, a moment before the hapless cook meets his end.
