I will add more pictures in the future.

lion figurehead
For all carvers:
Photographs of a genuine contemporary lion figurehead from the early 1700s in the NMM. This is not a model or mock-up.
The paint, or course, is not contemporary!

HMS Captain 1708
1:60 scale model in the Science Museum Archive. The modeller has used wide planks for the decks, and not even scribed the seams in, just left them plain.

90 gun ship to 1706 establishment.
Model from the Science Museum Archive, 1:70 scale, of a 90 gun ship. Once belonged to a former First Lord of the Admiralty. Believed to have been made between 1706 & 1730. See label for more information.

20 gun frigate from 1719-33
Model in the Science Museum Archive. With original rigging. Photos include underside of tops where accessible. For more information, see included photo of Museum's ID tag.
She was originally fitted with many more cannons, these have been removed and are stored in the white covered boxes adjacent to the model. I don't know why this was done, probably the glue holding them in failed. Only one is left now, near the break of the forecastle.

George I First rate
Model from Science Museum Archive of unknown George I First rate. Model shows many interesting details, including cabin floors, one of which appears to be the points of the compass.
The model separates at gun-deck level, and I have now added photos taken later with the top half removed. The pump dale is shown, as is the margin plank with some joggling. The taper of the deck planks at bow and stern is also well shown. WARNING: note added 29th Sept 2015. Following comments from Druxey as part of discussion on deck planking, all viewers of the lower deck planking shown here should be advised that this may well be a later addition to the model, and should not be relied upon for historical accuracy.
Some small parts are missing or damaged, most notably the starboard quarter piece.

50 gun ship of around 1715
A few photos of a model that I saw in the Science Museum Archive. This is a 50 gun ship of around 1715. That's what they say, anyway. I am creating this album because although the model is a virtually total wreck, the absence of the decks means that the internal panelling from the sides of the cabin is clearly visible.
This should be a useful resource for all those considering the building of panelling in their own projects.

HMS Warrior 1781, Science Museum, London
Contemporary Georgian model of Warrior, 74 guns. Photographed out of case. Model has a few bits of wear and tear, but the painted frieze is very detailed, and in an unusual range of colours: seems to be a 'moonlit' kind of appearance.
The garlands painted across the beakhead bulkhead are replicated on the underside of the stern gallery, which I think is unusual.

Bellona 1760 (II)
Contemporary Georgian model in NMM. Scale 1:36. Photographed in case, so access was restricted. Stern view and port side not accessible, unfortunately.

Ajax 1767 (II)
Contemporary Georgian model in the NMM archive 1:48 scale. Photographed out of case.
Model is interesting as it shows belaying pins set into the quarterdeck fife rail.
There are some marks on the beakhead bulkhead which seem to indicate that some of the decorative pilasters have come away and been lost over time.
