    Hello everybody! I'm doing a little research project for my senior year of high school and I thought that I could perhaps learn a thing or two from you guys, I'm doing the research on a pair of Spanish sister frigates from the late 18th century, they are the Nª Sª de la Paz (a.k.a. Graña) and Santa Escolástica, designed by French shipwright Francisco Gautier, they were launched in Ferrol the 18-7-1778 and the 31-3-1779. The main point of my "research" is to explain the inner working of how they sailed through physics but I'll be also including the transcription and summary of various historic documents I found on these frigates, and maybe if I have enough time I'll also compare them with similar vessels from other Spanish shipbuilders. The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
