Welcome to my LOG for the Billing Boats "Roar Ege" in the scale 1:25. The parcel just arrived today. This is my first wooden ship ever and I hope that the journey will be a great one and that I will gain a lot of experience working with wood instead of plastic. I don´t even know what kind of glue I should use, my preference would be the Gorilla Wood Glue (using this one for all other wood works) but not sure if this will be the best option for wooden ship models. The model is a "exact" replica of the "Skuldelev 3". The Skuldelev 3 was a small merchant vessel (LOA 14 m) which has been built around 1,000 AD near the banks of Roskilde in Denmark. The remains have been found in 1982 with four other ships from the same era. The remains have been salvaged and are now displayed in the National Museum of Denmark. On Saturday I will do the unboxing and I will post here the pictures of the unboxing.

First off, a Happy New Year to all here. Thank you for inviting me into your community. My name is Marcus Webb, and I live on the South Coast of the UK in a small town called Seaford. Many years ago during my youth, I made models in plastic (most proud of a model of a Shorts Sunderland, sadly no longer in production), and Card (there used to be models of Birds made from Card that a friend of the family made and sold - notably an Osprey and a Kestrel) which I ham-fistedly assembled into birds that were neither flight-worthy nor something an ornithologist would recognize. As the Wife kindly let me purchase a model for Christmas, mostly I suspect to keep me out of her hair, I have taken up this hobby anew, but this time, challenged myself with what I would term "proper" model ships made from wood. Not that I would in any way denigrate anyone who's modelling from Plastic Kits, simply for me this is a new challenge that I look forward to. As and when I have more detail on this I will of course let you know, potentially as a build log here. Having been perusing the forums here I think I'll be finding a lot of answers to the many issues I am bound to encounter, and will no doubt be grateful for the guidance and assistance that this community seems founded on. Hello, My name is Samuel and I am a 20 year old college student from Texas. I was gifted a wooden kit of the HMS Bounty 1:110 (Constructo) a few years back and never got around to building it because I was scared of messing it all up. Now as I am a little older I started it as an "end of summer project" and I think I am about 3 weeks in and the ship looks good so far. There is still a lot of work to do, and I know I will not be able to complete it before I head back to school in the fall. From reading a few posts here as well as various sources online I have come to a few conclusions. 1. The HMS Bounty is quite a famous ship because of the mutiny that occurred on board. 2. Constructo kits are not known for the best materials, instructions, or quality in general. (I'm making it work, so far so good) 3. This hobby is a very relaxing one for myself. (I love the water and I am a certified deep water diver) Attached you will see a photo or two of the ship in its current state on my makeshift drydock, as well as a photo of the box. Hello everyone, I come from Newfoundland Labrador, Canada which is surrounded by water. Unfortunately, living in the western region of Canada I'm in, Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada, (the vast prairies), water is very scarce. Ironically, my new passion for model watercraft will move ahead regardless. I have no interest in speed boat style vessels, but rather, the larger tug boats, fishing boats and eventually, tall ships. Ive done a lot of research, and it makes more sejse to reach for the mountain before the sky. So for my first build, I've chosen the Smit Rotterdam, by Billing Boats. I also intend to install RC components. This model is expert level for that group/style of vessel. Some say I am, "ambitious". We will see. So far, I am loving it. An entry level exploration tall ship is my next target. But, if it takes another boat, such as a fishing trawler, well, I will get my tall ship in good time. "Long may you big jib draw"
