Actually, I just finished the keel. While cutting the rabbit on the stern, I was trying to picture how the finished planking would look. It seems the vast majority of any pics of the Hannah are of the admiralty style.

What types of blades do you use with your 4" table saw, and for what type of cutting (i.e. ripping, cross cuts etc)?

Might get some arguments here, but the "Chop It" tool from Micromark I find does not give a clean 90 degree cut. So, for cutting multiple identical cuts it was worthless. Gave it away.

Does anyone use a feather board for their mini table saws? If so, any specific recommendations.

I watched some videos on You Tube showing kickbacks that has given me a heightened awareness of saw safety.

I don't like the rigging that comes with MS kits. They are wound around a piece of plastic which is not round, and the line comes off with a distinct set to it. I'Ve tried soaking and stretching it, but the set never completely goes away. I much prefer the line that comes with Jotika kits that is wound on a round tube. So, I'm now at the point I've "borrowed" rigging line from a couple unstarted Jotika kits, but I will have to pay the piper soon. If there are no US suppliers, I can obviously go to Jotika, but I'm trying to avoid the shipping from England.

What say mates?

What would be the mix of water/PVA when diluting? I must not be diluting enough as I still have residue on my ratline knots.

I started the ratlines on the other side to cool down. It wouldn't seem too awful bad if I hadn't disliked the shrouds when I first did them and then redid them. THEN.....On Friday my two dogs were roughhousing in my den and somehow knocked my ship off the desk. Ended up having to reset the mastheads and, you guessed it, several of the shrouds. I think when I'm done my head will be in the shrouds.

After rigging a dozen ratlines, I decided to trim the ends. Not being careful, I snipped a shroud....arggggghhh!!

Anyone ever splice a shroud line? Or am I just SOL?

Ah heck....I think I'll just have you build my next one.

BTW.....was everything in the kit laser cut? I really want to make use of my new Byrnes saw, so I just ordered the Hannah. However, looking at what you've done, I'm wondering if I shouldn't try this ship.

So what were the final finished you chose for the hull and wale? Also, I know you used pear for the wale, but what other types of wood did you use in the build so far?

Let's get this discussed again. I, personally, don't like the looks of a copper hull on a model (although Blue Ensign's Pickle caught my eye). Also, I love the look of wood on the hull. I realize by not coppering you are losing some authenticity.

What say you mates?

The Pickle is on my waiting to start kit shelf. I know I will be referring to this log often when I start her.

I'm still thinking of not coppering the hull and going with something other than the stock walnut for the second planking. I love the look of wood, and have just not been a coppering guy. That being said, your coppering job is great.

I've been using CA, but I think it looks lousy when it dries, especially on black rigging. Anyone use something else?
