  1. I was finishing up with lots of small details on the poop deck, aft and installing the anchors. Here is the forecastle and anchor storage.
  2. Impressive work and nicely executed....... Watching with anticipation. Rob
  3. Sometimes it is easier to drill flat stock, then bend it into the approriate fashion then solder. Sometimes a jig built for the purpose is required. Good job non the less. Rob
  4. Sorry the peanut crew...is putting the full court press on you.........We're just so impressed. Ok.............Go. Rob
  5. Fun project for sure. I love restoring old models...sometimes they are extremely details and causes much to marvel at...and some times they are quite simple and represent a more modest affair. You've done good and the final refurbishment will due you and the original builder great credit.. Thanks for posting. Rob
  6. Fantastic build. What woods did you use? Rob(I always wonder that)
  7. I surely wish they would.....and an American Clipper at that. I began to build a plank on frame scratch... Clipper Lightning 30 years ago that was five feet long from stem to stern. She never got past the weather deck stage...when she got destroyed in a mishap .. Rob
  8. Fine job for sure Frankie. I never have built a ship in a bottle before...I even have a kit. I know it takes some engineering to lay everything down and then pull it all back up once in......still pretty nifty stuff. Watching with anticipation. Rob
  9. GOOD NIGHT NURSE! This is without a doubt the best representation of skillfully executed model ship building I have ever seen. Not just the quality, but the attention to detail and finish. Superb! man..SUPERB! I wasn't sure I was looking at a model or the real thing...but hyper detailed and finished beyond comprehension. I'm fully impressed. I will be watching this build with delight. Rob
  10. Super soldering job....... Rob
  11. I am enjoiying your build.......and fine work indeed. I use my hand held micro torch and flux core silver solder to do all my soldering......you did a good job for sure. What agent did you use for blackening/pickling? I use gun blue on all my copper and brass and it blackens it up nicely and in short order. Great log. Rob
  12. Back to the build. I finished the bow and head gear first..since it was easist and I like to complete things in as small projects..so the entire project moves along faster(well at least if feels like it moves along faster) Rob
  13. Jumping ahead...here is a comparison of images of the Glory in 1900 and my version. I thought it was interesting.
  14. Oh..Ed you have to get a computer or at least a lap top in your shop....I couldn't get by with out mine right there in the shop...so I can reference and double check resources. Not to mention so I can take images and down load them as soon as possible. My lathes and mills are just out in the next building..not more then 5 steps away......Steps! No way. Well getting your cardio and ship work done all in one fell swoop is a blessing I guess. Rob
  15. Sorry I missed that... in your write up. Fun build for sure. Rob
  16. Oh boy..and a front row seat to. I'm enjoying this fully. Great start Ed. Rob
  17. What kit are you building? Mine was the Revell 1/96 kit......a 1959 version when the molds were new and crisp injection moldings were made. I build a wooden version years ago...but the detail was lacking and many deck features were out of scale or simply plain wrong. study is the trick for a good rendering....and I had to rebuild much and make many mods to keep to the actual ship. Rob
  18. Actually Nenad...I build the Revell 1/96 CS ship from the kit..apart from adding extra details and corrections...like not using string for railing and actually rigging the shrouds and dedeye lanyards and using scale chain. I super detailed it....like I will do with the scratch built glory of the Seas. Rob
