    Hello dear friends,
I am really honoured reading your praise and kind words, I do appreciate your comments and likes a lot. Thank you very much for your support.
Well, there are always various things or details I would like to improve in my work. Nobody is perfect, but it is a good motivation - trying to do things better.... This card model could by one of the most successful I have ever created, and also the most challenging. Hope I will finish the Royal Katherine this year, but there are plenty of problems to solve - especially some parts of rigging.

    Hello Jan,
    You are right - these cannons are different - here are some documents according to which I made cannons for the Royal Katherine;

in the aft section on lower deck there are the longest cannons (Culverin) with lower caliber - in this picture are in a red frame:

And now I am continuing with other 14 cannons ( demi-culverin) for upper deck:

Have a great time and enjoy the pics.

Thank you for your kind words and all the "likes", dear friends.
The cannons are finally placed inside the model; all are movable and able to adjust in height. Now the Royal Katherine looks much more like a warship.

Have a Happy New Year 2020 and plenty of health, love and joy.

Trying to get my head back in the game by building the main companionway. I’m taking a cue from Rick and went for a low profile with a very subtle slope, consistent with King’s cutaway drawing. Instead of modifying the plywood pieces that came with the kit I just built up a scrap block of balsa and finished it out with walnut strip stock that I keep on hand in a couple of sizes. The faux hinges are the tips of some cannon port hinges I never used. They’re probably a bit large and I still might paint them black, but added some extra detail.

To Dziadeczek: Yes, I am sure, this is a screen around the seat of ease, you can see under it the outlet (it was not always used there) which drains dirt to the sea - so as not to pollute the hull of the ship. I have these information from one of the greatest experts on ships construction and history. In Czech forum you can find him as Kpt.KL.
The crew got inside through the top hole as they climbed down the shroud. During the battle this screen was removed. It is not positioned immediately above a gun port but is shifted a bit to the side.

Here are some Van de Velde drawings with various design of that thing:

And these smaller barrels could be intended for salted meat etc. as was mentioned above:

The lanterns on the stern were made of cardboard and thick foils,  included plenty of hand made ornaments from modeling clay/I use Czech product Modelit/Modurit for all decorations on my the model. I have decided to create a different shape of lanterns ( in comparison with Vale´s painting). I have found inspiration in Sailmaker painting of The Royal Katherine and other similar ships from that period.

The work continued on the decoration of the bulkheads again, which I made according to original models from that period.

    Hello dear friends,
first I must apologize I was not here for a long time and didn't let you know about the progress. I have only little free time for hobbies and try to continue on Czech forum at least. I am sorry that I am not able to answer all your questions - mainly duplicate questions, that were answered and explained in detail many times  - I cannot devote myself to it, otherwise I would not have any time for anything else. It is also quite difficult for me write in English language and use correct expressions.
I do appreciate all your comments and strong support. Thank you all for this.
I would like to bring some new pics from continuation, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy.

I managed to remove the model from pedestals and paint the underwater part of the hull with protective white stuff. In that occasion there were raised "dolphins pedestals" using wooden base. The girdling almost disappeared, but you can still recognize a different method of laying the planks.

Handmade deadeyes for mainstay and forestay...
All these elements are made using only basic tools. The ropes are painted with suitable paint and impregnated by flat clear coat ( Tamiya TS-80). The mainstay thickness is about 2,4mm.

The gun carriages made of card were added to all gun ports. Finally I have also improved the frames of gunports to achieve more realistic result.

It was important to make the necessary changes to make the model more realistic. I noticed, that some elements in the previous work I did wrong, unfortunately the absence of accurate and, above all, quality plans is a hell ...
The changes concerned the displacement of masts and remodeling quarter galleries to achieve better symmetry.

Making the largest flag on the model  - I used a fine red fabric on which I painted white rectangles. Finished flag was oversprayed with flat coat to achieve unchangeable shape.
