  1. Hello Antony, Again, thank you for your help. I will go to the links and review the information. Regards, Cosmo
  2. Hello Antony, Thank you. Where can I find other build logs for the Bluejacket Smuggler?
  3. Thank you Chris, I will put a few pictures together of my hull progress and forward them to on.
  4. I am new to model ship building. My first attempt was the Dumas Chris Craft 1940 Barrel Back which I feel turned pretty nice for a first attemp. Previously I have had experience with paper plans as well as balsa/tissue plane kits. I am currently working on the Bluejacket Smuggler kit. Although the instructions and plans are very detailed and the kit very complete, there is a considerable learning curve with not only the steps involved in construction of the model but also the nautical terminology. Additional pictures and helpful hints would be a great addition to the instruction manual included with the kit. I have the series of pictures of the Smuggler from Bob Steinbrunn. How impressive! This is my first attempt at a topic request. Thank you for your help. Regards, Cosmo

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model shipcraft.

The Nautical Research Guild puts on ship modeling seminars, yearly conferences, and juried competitions. We publish books on ship modeling techniques as well as our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, whose pages are full of articles by master ship modelers who show you how they build those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you what details to build.
