  1. Thank you Mark. I understand now. Cheers, Ruben
  2. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a question about planking hulls. I have seen some builds that use one long plank strip ("strake" I believe). Then I have seen some that use butt joints with shorter planks connecting at a bulkhead. Also, I remember reading somewhere that the longest planks were a maximum of 25 feet on the real ships. I am not sure which way to go??? Help ! Ruben
  3. Thank You All for your suggestions. They will provide me a great starting point for some research. Ruben
  4. Gentlemen, Is anyone aware of a kit that would be similar to the one at this link http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/66543.html and Pictured here? Thanks, Ruben
  5. Larry, Thank you for the Kind Invitation. I will certainly look you up. Thanks, Derek C, Osmosis and Alde! For making me feel welcome. Ruben
  6. Thank You All for the Warm Welcome. Clare and Chris, I will definitely check in with Ship Modelers Association. thank you for the tip. Again, Thank you all for sharing your knowledge on this site! Cheers, Ruben
  7. Good Afternoon All, My Name is Ruben. I reside in Beautiful Sunny Southern California. I am a beginner when it comes to Wooden Models. I built quite a few plastic ones in the very distant past, never any wooden ones. I have always admired the wooden Tall Ship Models at various shows and museums and have always wanted to give them a go. I found this site and I think it is fantastic. I purchased the 18th Century English Longboat based on Model Expo’s description of it being a good starter kit. After reading several of the build logs for this boat I am feeling a bit intimidated. However, I will press on and complete it as best I can. I look forward to the gift of all the knowledge and Wisdom you all provide here. Thank you in advance, Ruben
