  1. Thank you Anja! Microcrystalline wax is special refined wax with no acid component. Provide a protective layer and helps to avoid oxidation, corrosion and preserve patina.   2. So forecastle and quarter deck doors has been done. Wooden parts covered using bees wax mixture... Metal parts preserved using microcrystalline wax... And quick look from the poop side... Cheers, Matt

  4. Time to wipe a little bit dust from this log I finished my contract... I'm on the vacation and the wether is miserable I sill have a little bit of free time before I'll come back to another contract... so it's good moment to continue building! So finally I overwhelm myself... set the workshop and I'd like to present what I've done. Enjoy... I hope Hinges are made from brass. Hinge blade thick. 0,2mm, rest parts brass wire 0,5mm and brass tube 0,68mm One single door hinge contain 10 elements. Everything was solder using silver. I can say only that I used CNC. ...some continuation of building Hinges are photoetched in argentan and silver soldered.... ...rudder hinges ...and rudder ...   6. Playing around with rope making I already have plenty ropes... but still not enough... Rope making are eating so mant time. Then it's necessary to permeate ropes . These ropes are the most thiner diameter which I'm able to make using cotton threads and three thread (0,35mm and 0,25mm) of course you can lay thiner using two threads but quality and presentation are not gratifying. I have very nice syntetic threads which I'll use...most probably Syntetic threads are more elastic... and give opportunity to lay thin rope... problem is always with permeate and insulation (syntetic ropes like to "grab" dust... so it's necessary to hobble electrostatic force ...but about this and how to do it, I'll write in nearby future Here I'd like to show example of cable-laid and left-laid ropes Part of my rope-stock

I'm also happy to be back on MSW So... time to arm a little bit this small vessel Gun barrel was casted with silver and brass alloy... blackening made using solution of selenium acid... Parts of gun carriage was photoetched in argentan. ...almost finished gun carriage... without cap square and securing clamps for the gun barrel trunnion... these elements I'll install later... almost on the end to avoid guns breaking in gunports... These set of guns carriage is only part of full armament... sixth from fourteenth are hidding bellow quarter and forecastle decks... ... fast method of hooks making... Hidden gun carriage with tackles... I'm not happy with these tackles... but good riddance no body gonna see them :P Next tackle rope are thiner...

  11. After when planking and imitation of nailing was finished I started cover model using wax mixture. Pear got really noble and old coloure...I love it!! ...and some progress ... head gratings, rails and toilets ...by the way wales was covered using solution of birch tar and terpentine

Deck nails imitation made as well using brass wire but in this case 0,5mm... ...becouse I broke few drills I said stop... and I made drill from... brass wire with sharp end... worked brilliant ...some overview of decks ...nothing special, just walls ...after all I started bulkheads, keel, sternpost, steam and finally planking... ...meanwhile some ladders... ...and planking of course pear wood. Bow planking calibrate to avoid stealers. I formed planks using only water and 36,6 deree celsius from my hands. Pear lath if was cut properly it'll be very flexible Imitation of taring on the edge of each lath was made using soft pencil.
  14. Welcome back... after some problems with old MSW my logs and not only mine were lost... so now I'll try restore what I wrote before... So... I'm building dutch pinnce from XVII century. Vessel was built in Dutch shipyard and then serve few years in Dutch Navy... after all Navy sold ship in 1623 to Swedish Navy. This vessel participate in the battle of Oliwa (coast of Poland) in 1627... battle was part of war between Poland and Sweden. In 1929 vessel came back to the waters of Bay of Gdańsk to took part with other vessels in blockade of the City of Gdańsk. She was sank in 1644. I'm using pear wood for entire model (except deck which was made using birch wood and carvings which is pau marfin) Rest information you 'll find in following logs...
