Hello, I am alive, well sort of! Got sidetracked building aircraft for the museum here in Rota, 400 plus hours of overtime this past year, Football, a move and life in general. I was digging around in my man cave and came across the box with my Dapper Tom build in it and thought I may take a diversion from the museum builds and work on my ship. Much to my dismay, the plan booklet and sheets with the rigging on them are no where to be found and I cannot find them on the Model Shipways site. Can anyone assist with photocopies of the book and rigging sheets? I will more than gladly compensate you for your efforts. Thanks and best to you all.

It looks like the build will be put on hold some more. We are being forced to move due to the owner not willing to change the electric company and plan so 1200 Euros a month electricity is 4 times what I should be paying and I am tired of being taken. I am also tired of the roaches (owner refuses to fumigate) so we move into the town of Rota. Less for rent, closer to work and more room. Down side, no pool. I do get a bigger Man-Cave AND a BUILD ROOM! so it is a win! We will get a hot tub to soak in and the beach is 1 block away. Ya'll be safe, be well and be blessed.

I have been sidetracked the past few months with coaching H.S. Football here at the base school. 3 more weeks and it will be back to the bench.

After numerous out of town trips, family interruptions, injured thumb (try opening glue bottles one handed) and breaking off every gun port lid at least 3 times each, the guns are finally on and rigged. 2 six lb. forward and 4 nine lb. finish the fit. High School Football coaching started 2 weeks ago and I am learning 2 new playbooks, offense and defense, so progress will remain slow until November. Sorry lighting is a bit dark.

Running Rigging _ Running in Circles....
USNCHief replied to USNCHief's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
Allan, I just now re-read your post and I will elongate the holes on the channels to make them more of a slot. Don't know how it took so long for me to notice this. Thanks! -

I did get a bit of progress finally. Got the cavils and pinrails installed and spent the rest of the day tying blocks onto eyebolts. -
Running Rigging _ Running in Circles....
USNCHief replied to USNCHief's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
Thanks for the replies. I have a few books but it all is a bit confusing. The terminology still is not clicking and I am having a devil of the time trying to decipher it. -
Looking ahead to get the rigging started on my Dapper Tom and am trying to put a plan together. The problem is, the rigging plans are confusing with lines disappearing into a "maze of lines" that looks like a "pile of spaghetti" (no offense to pasta intended). I understand some lines are not installed if the sails are stowed below in the sail locker. The question is, which ones should be omitted if I do not mount sails? Also, are the lines all rigged symmetrically i.e. if it is on the port side of the yard, does it also go on the starboard side too? More to follow as I "peel back the onion".

I am trying to wrap my head around the rigging plans of this kit but it is confusing. The standing rigging is the easy part. The running rigging doesn't make sense. I know some lines are attached to the sails so if there are no sails, so these pieces would not be on the yards/masts correct?

Threw caution to the wind and put the deck planking on. Made mistakes, learned alot. I am satisfied with my first shot at planking a wooden deck.
