  1. I wish to continue and add new photos and dialogue to my existing post of my model build. How exactly do I do it? Thanks, Jerry
  2. Hi Avi, I just returned to model ship world and checked on your model! Great work, looking forward to your future posts. On our annual Maine vacation in July, I stopped in at Bluejacket and picked up a new kit of the Nantucket Lightship to build. I wanted to take a break from rigging and it is a very striking model when completed. I have started a post on the build today. The actual ship is moored close by in New Bedford harbor. Regards, Jerry
  3. I recently completed the USS Constitution model from Bluejacket Shipcrafters. Since I am retired and was unable like many of us to go anywhere during the pandemic , I was able to complete it in 17 months. I just bought and began the construction of the model of the Nantucket Lightship. I wanted a break from shrouds, rigging and yards along with the fact that the actual ship is moored 45 minutes away from me in New Bedford Harbor. I am posting my initial work on the hull as well as pictures I took of the actual ship.
  4. Avi, I just went over to my profile, scrolled down and my posting was there. Kurt had replied to it. I am tech savvy but for some reason I find it difficult to navigate this site. I did not want to add my pictures to your blog but if you can’t find my posting I will send them to you. Jerry
  5. Hi Avi, I completed my build of the Constitution today and just posted some pictures of it. I think It came out quite well. Not museum quality but definitely display quality, I hope all is well in Israel. Regards, Jerry
  6. I just completed my build of Bluejacket’s model of the Constitution. It took me 17 months from start to finish. Very challenging but very satisfying. I lashed down the anchor on the starboard side but left it hanging on the port side. I also painted the blocks wood color instead of black. Thanks  to everyone who gave me advise.

      She’s a beaut!

  7. Avi, thank you. I haven’t been posting . Truthfully I am occasionally somewhat confused how to manipulate thru this site. Yesterday’s was the first one in a long time. I plan on posting upon completion with commentary about what I did do as well as some alterations I made such as painting the blocks etc… wood color and not black. I basically followed the plans with the kit (especially the rigging) augmented by Karl Marquardt’s book. I did not plan to make it museum quality since I do not have that skill level but it is display quality! Keep up your fine work and I look forward to your posts, regards, Jerry
  8. Avi, your model is looking great! Very meticulous! I recently completed the standing and running rigging as well as the 1st of the 3 whaleboats. I rigged the whaleboat today and have enclosed some pictures.

I am 15 months into the build and still have to fabricate the 3 whaleboats as well as the anchor.

  9. I resorted to using a Dremel carefully to reduce the inside of the hull. Thanks for the compliment but as I stated previously, I am a recently fully retired dentist with lots of time to work on the ship. Enjoy ! Jerry
  10. Hi Avi, I sporadically go on modelshipworld and enjoy the blogs especially yours. You did mention at one time about what cements were best to use. On my Constitution build I use Elmer’s glue -all extra strong formula as well as CA (krazy glue). I buy both on Amazon especially the CA in a10 pack. I have a lot of respect for those model builders who did not have CA cements in their arsenal. Reducing the thickness of the bulwarks as you are doing is vital. I made the mistake of not thinning them down sufficiently and not allowing some of the cannons on the gun deck to protrude enough. All in all I am having a great time building the Constitution and am privileged enough to live near Boston where I can see the actual ship. I am approaching a year into my build and have enclosed a photo of it along with a couple of others of the actual ship. Do not hesitate to contact me at jerrybdds@comcast.net if I can help you out with any advise about the pitfalls and successes I have had while building it. שלומ Jerry
  11. Thanks Tim, I will check them out, Jerry
  12. Welcome Pascual from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. My wife and I will hopefully be in Barcelona for the first time next year. Enjoy modeling! Jerry
  13. Tim, I am a Boston native retiring to the Cape several yrs ago. I attended a modeling show at the Constitution museum a couple of yrs ago probably from the Guild. I was blown away by some of the models on display especially the ones made from Cardboard which looked like wood. I would like to explore the clubs and their email address would be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry
  14. Dear TrippleV... Greetings from Cape Cod ! similar to your situation, I have enjoyed modeling over the years. It took me 50 yrs to complete my model of the “Flying Cloud” from scratch using plans and any wood I could find. 3 Kids and 48 yrs of practicing dentistry “delayed “ my completion but when I turned 70 yrs old I decided that I had to complete the rigging etc..which I did. I had a case made by Bluejacket and now have it on display. Following my retirement last year I decided to build the Constitution. I am 6 months into the build and have enclosed a picture of it. I am indebted to KurtH on this site for his wonderful blog on his museum quality build of the Connie. Enjoy your hobby!
  15. Avi, I saw your post concerning coppering the hull. I have elected to use copper tape on my models which I score vertically every 1/2 inch or so and get a very nice effect. It is very inexpensive and available on Amazon. Jerry
  16. Avi, enjoy your build of the Constitution. I started it in Nov. 2020. Very challenging but also very gratifying! Kurt H blog is tremendous. He is a craftsman and his postings are very informative and helpful. Enjoy, שלןם... Jerry Berenson
