Captain's log: First model ship build, not going to end up a historical representation but my own dream boat. Upon opening the box, I knew it was the right first build for me, I love a challenge and an easy build would have bored me to the art. Upon starting the build I was confirmed (I chose to ignore the 3 booklets dedicated to rigging). Upon getting to the rigging, I second-guessed my initial appraisal. Upon attempting the rigging I was confirmed yet again, and Understood how I scored such an awesome deal at the local goodwill, and this poor vessel then sat in my closet for over a year. I have now committed to finishing this beast of a project.

Update. I found the rules under >Browse>Guidelines. I am wondering what exactly a pirated ship is and how you know if you have a pirated ship/parts...I was going to make a pirate joke but refrained-I know mine is not as I opened it fresh out of a vintage Revell package, but what if I want additions? Further kits off eBay etc? As a peasant I am often looking for deals, as a novice, I would have no idea how to check. -
Hello new friends and comrades, I am new to forums but the Facebook group I joined wasn't cutting it. To post my own cautionary tale, you don't know what you've gotten yourselves into letting me join this group. I am like a five-year-old who just learned the words "why" and "how", luckily I am actually an adult.... and being the responsible adult I am trying to find the rules/restrictions page to save mods time but alas I am adrift. The first thing I read was "how to use forum" with a large "Absolutely No modeling posts" directly under it. Well shoot! Isn't this a modelers group? I had to recheck the group and read quite a bit until I understood you meant none of that content ON THAT THREAD. Lol I can learn... slowly. Second thing I read, "start a build log" with no instructions on how to do that, I have looked it up and looked at my account page, and briefly through the forum and I'm blind- help meh! 😢 Also point me in the direction of what I can and cannot post or guaranteed I'll post it, it's the Murphy's law of my existence. Thanks!!! Nice to meet you 😄😄😇

As a brand spanking new builder and member I almost choked laughing when I read this, and in fact it is the very reason I joined (this post). Only a truly conscientious group, would bother to pre-warn us of the struggle to come, not unlike a coastie hailing a vessel during a hurricane "Turn back! Turn back! You idiot, haven't you seen the forecast?! No. no In fact I did not get this memo, and where were you sir when I started this journey?! Now I'm whitewash deep in rigging, crying myself to sleep and now you all have to come save me. You see what I did there? Hahaha this is going to be a wild ride, I may enjoy it I may rue the day, but I will say I survived it at the end.
