  1. I painted and put 3 coats of 1 hour epoxy and did a floating test. I'm very happy with the result. It's well balanced and it's not too heavy so I can add enough weight for ballast. Now I can finish it ...
  2. After sanding the hull and applying the wood stain, I started working onthe rudder and the poop deck.
  3. After sealing the wood inside with diluted epoxy, I started planking the hull. It took me four days... That was fun! Now I started the sanding.
  4. There will be no seal on the access hatches but the ESC is waterproof and I will waterproof the receiver and servos with CorrosionX. I don't think much water will get in but just in case...
  5. Deck planking is all done and ready for varnish. At first i didn't like the look of it because it was too uniform. so I started sanding but it smeers the black marker on the planks edges everywhere... Very ugly... So I scraped everything with a cutters blade. put more stain let it soak in for an hour and scrape again. Because of the glue here and there, the stain didn't penetrate the wood leaving it pale. I love that effect. Now it looks weathered. I did the nails with a super fine permanent marker. Looks great.
  6. I started the deck planking. I love it! It takes a lot of time (especially marking the edges of each plank) but it's very zen.
  7. The keel and motor are installed. Now I work on the bulkheads making everything ready for planking.
  8. Allo Ian! Beautiful boats you have there. The motor is a 545/50T brushed (2s/4s). I put a motor in case it doesn't go upwind easily, and to be able to sail it in low wind conditions. I ordered two 6 turn winches(drums) for the sails. One will control the front mast and bowsprit sails and the other will control the center and back mast sails.
  9. At this point I'm setting up a temporary rigg so I can test the winches before I go further. I'm waiting for the winches and the submersible brushed motor delivery. So I need the motor before I start working on the keel. I did some tests with the cannons to give them a good patina. Ammonia vapors worked the best, salt and vinegar not so much.
  10. So in other words, you don't think it's going to work? ...and thank you for the welcome.
