I am looking for advice on Vanguard’s DoK paints. I have Vallejo Game Color Polished Gold (72.055), Game Color Ultramarine Blue (72.022), and Game Color Bloody Red (72.010). Are these good options? They come from miniature painting. Most importantly - I need advice on the white hull paint. I see in the instructions that Jim used a Rustoleum matte white primer. Apologies for my ignorance, but is it only primer or is there a true white that goes over the primer as a top coat? Thank you!

The Polaris timber heads are tapered to a point at the top (see photo), so they don’t look like they’re providing support to the cap rail. Does that seem odd to you? Or is it normal that they would not be used to provide support?

After combing through Polaris build logs I found an example! @RH-J planked the inner bulwarks on this super interesting build. Would be great to see the finished product!

Great flag @Snug Harbor Johnny - I agree the Endurance looks great.

I’m curious if anyone has seen this modification to Polaris before, and if so if they can drop a link to it? otherwise, I’m curious what people’s opinions are on planking the inner bulwarks.

good clarification! Yes it is the very thin second planking veneer strips that I have leftover so the bulwark would not be too thick IMO.

Hello All, I am working on my first model, Occre’s Polaris. I have seen several build logs where the builder said they would have liked to plank the inner bulwarks but lacked sufficient planks. well I’ve gotten through all the planking and have enough planks left over to plank the inner bulwarks in lime - should I? I am torn between wanting to do the kit the way it was designed and wanting it to look more realistic - I am interested in crowd sourcing opinions on this. Also, can anyone point me towards a Polaris build log where the inner bulwarks are planked? I can’t find any examples. (deck fittings not attached yet) thanks! Max
