  1. Hello all, I'm opening this thread to finally tackle into a kit that has been sitting in the garage for 10 years at this point, due to the sheer amount of work required (I think everyone here knows how poorly detailed this kit is). Long story short, I got this kit for a bargain (like 100 $) in 2012 from a guy that wanted to build it but then gave up, and he even bought both GMM photoetched set, which I got together with the kit. In short, here is what I would like to do, depict the Yamato as it was in April 1945 during operation Ten-Ichi-Go, which would require to add all the missing details needed to bring the ship from 1941 configuration to 1945. I took advantage of a recent trip to Japan to buy at a very low price all the kits made by Fujimi for the 1/200 scale Yamato, but even the quality is quite crisp and good, they sometimes too show some lack of details, this is why I'm now on the look for 3d printed parts from various suppliers. I also got the wooden deck from Artwox, so now I can start working on the hull, to remove all those horrible seam lines and fix the inaccuracies. Speaking of the hull, here is my first question: the hull is completely smooth, i.e. no hull plating stripes visible, which is not very good for such a large scale; I can do it myself with styrene strips, but I have no reference to do it ( I have the book "The battleship Yamato by Janusz Skulski" but it doesn't contain this information). Is there anyone here that has the brand new Very Fire kit? I'm aware that the hull plating is reproduced there and it is also very clearly shown in the instruction manual, having pictures of it, together with some measurements of the stripes height would help me doing it on the Nichimo kit. Pictures will soon follow, thank you!
  2. Hello all, I'm joining this forum from Italy, I usually build airplanes and everything related to flight (so also space models), but over time I developed a certain interesse also for ship models, especially warships and the history that surrounds them. I do hope I will be able to share my works and maybe receive some hints or help from other fellow modelers, I'm sure there are plenty of people here way more skilled than me
