  1. Hello. Just a follow up. Kurt had suggested contacting the gentleman at ship ahoy for the Praec motor upgrade. He stopped making and selling them over a year ago. He also would not divulge his source for the motor. So if you are in need of a praec motor, you will need to source it on your own. Jon
  2. I swapped out the capacitor. I tested the old one with a meter and was still working but at 21 years, replacement was still a good idea. ben752, I believe these motors relate to pump units. The closest I have found all seem to be pump motors and they do not seem to relate to standard motor frames etc. Jon
  3. I got a new switch and the motor works but I have not put a load on it. I am awaiting a new capacitor as I do not know what caused the switch to burn up. At 21 years, capacitors are too old per my wife, the electrical engineer. I have not found a similar motor as of yet, but I have not dived too deep yet into that yet. It’s odd that there is no name plate on the motor. I will probably look to find something similar to the disc sander motor
  4. Thanks Kurt. I will give swapping the switch out a try first and see about the capacitor next.
  5. Hello all. This may be an existing topic as I seem to remember seeing it at some point in the past but I cannot find it despite my efforts. My 21 year old table saw stopped working. I used it fine in the morning and would not start again the afternoon. Two of the connectors to the switch have burnt shrink wrap. While there is no other obvious damage, I am assuming the capacitor is bad but it is unknown at the moment if the motor is blown. I was wondering if anyone has sourced a replacement motor for their saw of this vintage. The motor does not have a plate or other ID on it so it is unlikely I can find an exact replacement. If so, I will source one and make an adapter plate but I thought I would ask here first. Thanks Jon
  6. Thank you for your responses everyone. I will look into building my library. I am not daunted by the task as I find it very interesting.. My Christmas list will be long on books this year! Thanks Jon
  7. Hello. I have been looking at the various logs for the TFFM swan ships with an eye towards building. I have been curious for quite some time on the complexity of the wooden sailing ship. My question is how do you determine the dimensions for the framing scarph joints and chocks? I do not have books from Goodwin or Steele in my library yet and have not found much through Google. Thank you. Jon
