I'm interested in learning how one constructs a solid hull using the buttock lines for the lifts from a set of plans. Do any of you know of a document or book that explains the proceedure?

Thanks very much.

"Planking Techniques for Model Ship Builders" by Donald Dressel goes into how to create frames and bulkheads from plans. I am sure you could use this information to create accurate templates for a solid hull model. The book is inexpensive and a good read for anyone interested in ship modeling.

Paddy -

Not sure if this will help much, but there is a Nautical Research Journal article from 2010 by Gilbert McArdle where he describes making a solid hull model of the HMS Sussex.

Information is available at http://www.seawatchbooks.com/110001

Good Luck!

Thanks Wayne.

Update: Down loaded the pdf that accompanies the book ad on the Sussex and the article does talk about the author’s solid hull build using buttock lines. Let the learning begin. :)
